Hello, I'd love to ask everyone who scored well on step 2 what they did which helped them to prepare to get a great score. I've heard lots of great advice but would just like to hear from those who consider themselves as average medical students (like myself) and what they found useful in preparing.
Thanks in advance.

What helped me most was treating Step 2 as a decision-making exam rather than trying to memorize another textbook. Use UWorld during clerkships or dedicated, but review each block for the clinical pivot: what finding changes the diagnosis, what makes one test appropriate now, and what determines the next management step.

CMS forms are valuable because they teach NBME wording and priorities. I would complete them by specialty, then use NBMEs at intervals to identify whether the problem is content, question interpretation, timing, or changing correct answers. Keep a brief error log organized by reason for the miss rather than copying long explanations.

For an average student, consistency is more useful than an extreme daily question target. A strong routine might be one timed block, thorough review, and focused repair of one weak topic. As the exam approaches, spend more time on NBME/CMS patterns, ethics, quality improvement, screening, and risk factors. Feel free to message me if you want help adapting that framework to your clerkship schedule or target score.
