Your Why?

Yeah. There were always one or two who didn't want music on in the OR. They were usually the less confident ones (and not surprisingly, the dick bags--luckily they were few and far between).
They were jamming out to spotify a few times I have visited. Do some of the surgeons have particular sets of music that they absolutely must have?

I worked with a vascular surgeon who only wanted to listen to Seal. The rest didn't care as long as it wasn't rap or death metal.

ETA: I did try to figure out what kind of music they liked and tailor my playlists so they wouldn't be distracted by the music.

In my experience the surgeon picks the music and often just uses their own phone and their playlists

I only worked with one surgeon who had his own playlist. I usually just put on whatever I wanted to listen to. None of them minded as long as the music wasn't intrusive. I stuck to classic rock and some pop stuff.

No, Armstrong state university, I do not picture myself in healthcare, but thanks anyway for your targeted ad showing a diverse pair of professionals in white lab coats.

Oops, I did it again....

I love the smell of infections.

I'll give you a serious answer, lol.

For me, it's a combination of personal family history with illness, a love for science, and a passion for education. I've shadowed, volunteered, and worked in multiple professions (I'm a non-trad) and something about medicine resonates with me in a way nothing else has.

This is a great answer.
