Ahh, I know! A cold sweat has descended upon me at the very thought... I also applied to UCSB. Good luck to you! Any info on how many people they invite for interviews?

Weirdly enough I can't seem to find their disclosure information on their website. Hmm. But, I do know someone who got in last year (she decided not to go). If you want to PM me, I can give you more details!

I've PMed you... thanks!!

Nerves are starting to hit and I haven't even finished submitting yet!!

Best of luck to everyone...it's a long, long road and I hope it pays off for us all!

i think it's best to hold off on reporting interview dates until you've been invited lest you cause panic attacks in your fellow applicants.

+1. Last year, more than one school I applied to did not adhere to what their website said about notifying interview applicants and interview dates. It might be more productive to only report when you personally are officially invited to interview.

So I received a rejection e-mail from Kings County in Brooklyn NY and i received and interview date for NY Presbyterian/Columbia University. Date is set for December.

what do you mean whats the program? its the adult track of their internship program.

You're in the wrong thread - this is interview invites for Ph.D. program admission, not internship.

Anyone else apply to UCSB? I hear interview invites go out in December, although I'm unsure what the dates generally are...

I'm reminding myself that nail-biting is a poor habit to begin... :p

DePaul's clinical community program has interviews either Feb 8 or Feb 15.

I applied there. I think we can expect to hear around December 15th.

And the University of Oregon has announced on its website that interviews will be February 11th and 12th!

For what it's worth, I just took a look through last year's interview thread. It looks like people started hearing from schools starting around the middle of December, and kept hearing from them until at least the end of January. Makes me feel better to know at least approximately when to expect these things...

When I saw that new posts had been added to this thread, I thought I was going to see that interview invites had started going out already!
Phew! Will keep checking back though, it's great to know there are other people in the same situation, just playing the waiting game and hoping to get that email/letter! Good luck!

Last year when I was applying I heard from 2-3 sites early. These were invites. Then I got a slew of email rejections in early December, followed by some email and phone invites around 12/15-12/24. Don't fret too much, my site has not even sent out invites yet -- they plan to do so the end of this week.:) Good luck to everyone!:luck:

Rejections by early December?

... That's tomorrow!

Heh. Well. This makes actually applying look easy and relaxing. ; )

Hmm, also have a question (sorry to make this thread keep popping up and giving people cardiac arrest!)...

Does anyone know if Colorado State University's counseling program does interviews? There was no mention of it in last year's interview threads and I'm not finding an answer on their website. Thanks in advance!

I think people are talking about both internship and grad program interviews. Internship interview invites (which I believe are what Psychmama is referring to) go out earlier than grad program invites. The latter generally happen Jan-Feb with some outliers. Might want to edit the title of the thread which type of interviews it refers to (Clinical Psych Grad Programs, or whatever) or maybe even make a new thread with a clear title if you can't edit this one.

I got my first Clinical PhD program invite the first week or so of January last year, for an interview in late Jan, and that was really early compared to most, so I wouldn't generally expect to hear before January unless you are applying to a program known to invite people unusually early. The rest of mine didn't come until toward the end of Jan or very early Feb. Most of the programs I applied to invited everyone in one batch, one in two batches (for two separate dates), and two had POIs invite people on their own schedules, so for those it varied a lot.

Oh wow, so sorry to post about internships on this thread...my bad! To clarify, I was talking about when i heard from internship sites, not grad programs. Both processes are stressful and the waiting involved in both can be horrible. Good luck to you all.

Hello everyone, I am new here :) I have a question about programs with dec. 1st deadlines. Do these programs generally offer invites in december? Or do most schools invite students in jan? Thanks!

Check last year's thread. It offers a huge list of programs nd dates when interview offers were extended. If you're feeling lazy though, it seems like most schools offer invites in January through early December, with a few before and after.

Last year I heard from my current school on January 17th (i think). The last invite was around early-mid February. All the interview dates I was invited to occurred on either a Monday or Friday.

Also, just in case you guys didn't think about this: make sure that your voice mail is professional. Both of my POIs called and got my voicemail. Luckily it wasn't some stupid song or me saying HEEEEY IT'S MEEEE LEAVE A MESSAGE BIATCH.I doubt anyone would have that, but I have heard some horror stories.

I think a good template is : "You have reached ______. I am unable to take your call, but please leave your name, number and a brief message after the beep and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Thank you and have a nice day."

Obviously that is pretty standard, but you would be suprised with what some people might think is appropriate. Also, in your emails make sure that your signature is appropriate. I have some undergrads email me with song lyrics as their signature.

Finally, do not stress about other people getting interviews early, even if you haven't sent your application in yet! They will invite the people that they want regardless of when the applications are sent in. I have even heard rumors that some programs will even look at applications that are late (BUT DON'T DO THAT JUST IN CASE).

Thank you AryaStark and terpskins10 - that is very good to know.

What happened to me was for a long time (until Feb or so) I heard nothing, but then when I finally did hear, they all came flooding in.

wheereeeeeeeee. come on some people are dying to know.

i cant say where yet bc i know only the person i want to work with is ready to invite students....it will freak everyone else out if i say where since the deadline for this school's application was dec 1

ah i see. actually that makes sense. is this your second year applying? why the negative name ? ;)

congrats again! :p

wow. I'm impressed! I can imagine you can't tell what school it is yet, but would you mind saying whether you submitted the application very early, or whether you were in contact with the professor? Because one week after the deadline sounds very soon, considering that most grad schools take a while to forward materials with all their bureaucracy

This might be a dumb question, but I'm going to go for it anyway-

How are most interviews offered? E-mail? Phone call? Something else?

I had one interview two years ago, but I came about it in an unusual way. I'm not sure what to expect this year...

Unlike Reject's experience, I'm not expecting to hear anything this soon... since there are tons of POIs out there that we all applied to, I'm just going to hope it wasn't one of mine. :)
