Just wanted to wish you all lots of luck! The interview process can be grueling, but hang in there because looking back you'll see that it really flew by.....and then the real work of being a doctoral student begins!

Alright, peeps! Since it's been mentioned in a different thread, I figured it's time to bumb this one.

The first pre-interview (University of Nevada - Las Vegas and University of California-Santa Barbara CCSP) and interivew invites (University of Southern Mississippi) went out December 7th last year...we're getting close.

I'm also applying this cycle. Godspeed, everyone

It's so hard to believe that I went through this very same process last year...

I know it can be very scary, nerve-wracking, frustrating, and exhilarating all at the same time, but hang in there! :) Best of luck to everyone this round.

Oh no, I totally missed this!!! Now I have to find a way to get rid of the one I just made...I don't think it's possible to delete threads though.

Nov 15th? Wow, and I thought Dec 1st was bad.

Good luck to applicants this year. Please try to remember that it is extremely early and try to enjoy your holidays as best you can!

Ditto....while some places may be on the ball and give you notice in December...you are more likely to hear in January. Eat some holiday food and get a hobby!

This is so stressful. One of the programs that I applied to typically sent out invites for pre-interviews this exact week the last 2 years. I am going mad waiting! At least nobody else has posted that they received an invite.

Last year some schools were behind with invites and acceptances. The new GRE scores was part of the problem, but more often I've heard it was funding issues. Schools were holding off until funding was secure. That may or may not happen again this year. Thankfully, I'm now on the other side of things. Got into my top choice and am just finishing my first semester. I feel for you all in the waiting game. As long as you don't hear or see someone else getting an invite, take it as a good sign that the school hasn't done anything yet.

Take this with a grain of salt too. Some schools let the individual faculty call their own applicants and it's not always on the same day. I had a couple schools that emailed/called people over a few days. Not exactly reassuring when one of your schools sends out invites and you don't get one right away but it might not be over for that school!

Also, I was wait listed at my top choice and then they called a week later to invite me to interview! This whole process was not fun and I feel for you guys. Take care of yourselves and try not to flip. I don't think I heard from anyone in December so try to enjoy your holiday!

Hello everyone!
I received a Skype (pre) interview invite via email on December 7th for UCSB! I'm applying to the CCSP combined PhD with an emphasis in school psychology. It's THIS THURSDAY!

Any tips? I've gotten a lot of great feedback from grad students in the lab I'm currently working in but have never done a Skype interview!

I just wanted to let everyone know that I plan on updating every night as I have a full-time job and I don't think my boss would be too happy if I didn't do my work.

I was thrilled to receive one as well! Best of luck to you! :luck:

Congrats to both of you! I'd be curious as to how it turns out as UCSB is my top school for my app next year.

Treat and prepare for it as you would a face-to-face interview; they call it a "pre-interview" but it is taken pretty seriously. Also consider your appearance and the environment that you will be seen in, and make sure that all of your technology is working well ahead of time - just in case. But in relation to interview questions, prepare as if it were a face-to-face interview. If I recall, there was a whole discussion on Skype interviews in last year's interview thread (if you are up for scouring the internet). Congrats & good luck! :)

If any of you applied to Notre Dame (I ended up not applying), I've heard through the grapevine that they have finalized a list of applicants to interview and will be contacting soon. Someone posted on GradCafe that they'd received an interview invite (not sure which department), but just thought you should all be prepared because things went super fast this round...

Hey, did you apply to the CCSP-School Psych emphasis too? I applied to their Clinical Psychology emphasis and was wondering if maybe only the school psychology applicants have already heard back about interviews.

Let me know - Thanks!

 Couldn't have said it better myself! Treat it like an in-person interview. Dress professionally and make your environment look as professional as possible as well (i.e., take down any inappropriate posters or not-so-professional items ;)).

Thanks to both of you! I appreciate it! I'll actually be connecting from my lab since it's more of a professional environment and I have spotty connection at my apartment- so I wont have to worry about the tapestries in my apartment hah! :)

Hi Psych280 - yes, this was for the school emphasis. Looking at past years, it looks like the clinical program sends invites out a couple weeks later. You still have time :D

Good luck!

Ah, thanks - that's reassuring. Congrats on getting the skype interview, and good luck to you too!

While we are on rumors, I heard through the grapevine that the University of Southern Mississippi (who last year sent out invites 12/7) might be sending invites in the next few days. Hope that helps somebody.

If you're referring to clinical, I can assure you that interview invites for USM are not going out in the next few days. Not sure about the timeline for the other USM programs though.

Help give me a heart attack. :scared:

No clue, actually, this is about a third or fourth hand rumor.

I was really excited that you posted this. Then, I received an email from Notre Dame! Unfortunately, it was just an automated one from applyyourself telling me how awesome ND is. But I already knew that, or I would not have applied! These automated emails just add to my anxiety

In case anyone is interested or fretting, Stony Brook isn't interviewing until quite a bit later this year, so their invites will not go out as early as they did last year. Good luck everyone:)

I got an email tonight from the DCT of the University of North Texas Clinical Psychology program with an interview invitation! There will be an interview day and open house on Friday, January 25.

Is that because Stony Brook's deadline is this Saturday?? I saw that last year they had sent out invites quite early and I was worried that my application may seem late even it gets there on the deadline.

PsychAggie12, did you apply for the regular clinical program or the clinical health program?

Hi ALL,

Most of the Counseling Psychology Programs that I've applied to have deadlines from 12/1-12/15 so I'm guessing they are not sending out their interview invitations shortly. Yet, while looking into other back-up plans (eg looking for jobs) in case I don't get no invite, I thought I could as well spend some time getting ready for the interviews in case I do get a couple.

Could someone recommend a source on how to prepare for the doctorate interviews, either within SDN and outside pls?

Thanks in advance!

Stony Brook's application deadline isn't changing, just the interview dates. Faculty won't meet for a while, so I'm sure you're fine as long as your application and all supporting documents are in by the deadline. Good luck!

There have been some SDN threads on it, (e.g., http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=703134 ; http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=693832 )

You can do a search for more. Going through the old interview invite threads also can be helpful...and googling, as well.

Hello, just thought I'd give a heads up to other prospective applicants that I received an email asking for a pre-interview next week with UC Santa Barbara's CCSP program (clinical emphasis).

I got a phone call this afternoon from Sam Houston State University inviting me to interview for their clinical psychology PhD program. The interview will be Feb. 8 with a social that evening.

Received an interview invite via email also from Sam Houston State University - Clinical Psychology today! It's also on the 8th! See you there ;)

Invited to interview weekend at SUNY Buffalo from Jan. 11th-13th... email from POI

Congratulations! I also just recently received a pre phone interview emaul from SUNY Bufallo's Clinical Program. May I ask how the phone interview went? Did you get an official invite to the interview within a day of the phone interview?

Any information would be much appreciated!

I also received an invitation to interview at Sam Houston State--Good luck to everyone!
