Whoops! Computer hiccup. Duplicate post.
All of the repeat dates offered seems to be a little overkill / unnecessary.
I agree. Would be much clearer without all the dates offered.
I concur in fact we could get rid of the dates offered altogether for my vote.
What you guys forget is that not everyone has gotten offers from these places yet so the whole point of adding the available dates is to see what days each program is offering so they can "tentatively" plan for when they might want to try to schedule their interview if they were to get offered one or to see if the interview dates clash with other interviews they have or are trying to schedule. The updates, while not so important when 3 or 4 people get offers a day apart, are important later on down the line because it lets people know A) what's left, and B) if a particular place is getting close to being completely full and thus, may not be offering many more (or perhaps anymore) interviews. It's about being able to project.
On the flip side... there is no reason why EACH person needs to have the available dates listed... just the last person offered. For example... if 5 people get offers at XYZ Univ program 1 week apart there is no need to know what was available when the first person updated but instead each new updater should erase the dates available from the previous persons post and ONLY have the dates available as of their interview offer. This keeps it up to date, keeps it clean, and keeps it organized. Only thing that should be left is the older offer dates like this...
Member 1234 (invite 9/25), Member 2274 (invite 10/1), Member 8247 (invite 10/7) Dates available Nov 7/12/14/19/21/26, Dec 3/5/10/12 , Jan7/14/21
Looks like the format is already changing to that and as long as the last person to update the invite list also updates the available dates, all should be good!
And another poster fails by not following the instructions. Score!
Of note I did get an email today from New Mexico saying EM lags behind other specialties and they (New Mexico) do not begin reading applications until Oct 1st when Dean's letters are available. So dont freak out (that was actually in the letter). haha
Yeah lol I am starting to freak out hard so many people are getting interviews I'm tempted to just throw down more apps.
relax......they'll come
Yeah lol I am starting to freak out hard so many people are getting interviews I'm tempted to just throw down more apps.
I'm with ya -- a couple hundred bucks is nothing compared to the cost of not matching. Planning to throw down some more apps this week.
I'm beginning to think I got some questionable advice from my adviser. My last SLOR won't be in until the end of Oct bc of an away scheduling snafu, and I was told that it wouldn't be too much of an issue and that they would extend interview invites with the rest of my app but no letters, esp since I have okay scores/grades. That doesn't appear to be the case, blah. It's going to be a tough road.
Good luck to everyone! And congrats to those who have already gotten IVs
Steps for success:
- Click on the blue "QUOTE" button at the bottom right of the last post (don't copy and paste since it will not pick up the HTML code for boldface fonts).
- Remove the bracketed things at the very beginning and very end. (QUOTE=username;numbers) and (/QUOTE) - where the parentheses are brackets
- Type what you are adding in the title so people won't have to search the whole post to see what you added.
- Make your additions to the body of the list. List entry format:
