I'm only looking to apply to D.O. schools now because of the MCAT score I got. Pretty bummed about it, I just seen what I got today.

MCAT
5 Verbal reasoning
7 Physical Sciences
6 Biological Science

I've got 100 hours of volunteer service, 200 hours of shadowing in a pediatricians office and emergency room. No research experience. I worked part time as a waitress for most of time in college.

I really wanted to apply this year, and I dread taking the MCAT again. I'm thinking of retaking it in January 2015 so I have time to study and the MCAT format won't have changed.

Do you think I have any chance at getting into any D.O. schools if I apply now? Here's the list of D.O. schools I am considering applying to:

Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine, AL
University of Pikeville-Kentucky, College of Osteopathic Medicine, KY
Lincoln Memorial University - DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine, TN
Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, OH
Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine, FL
Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine - Bradenton Campus, FL

The 18 is likely to be a killer, especially when considering your GPA.

You have no chance.

You need a decent MCAT retake (24+) to even have a shot at admission.
I definitely am going to retake the MCAT, but can I still apply this year and retake. I'm thinking of retaking October. Would that be possible without being overlooked by the osteopathic schools?

It would be possible... Having your score back in November is not too late for DO IMO, but you will need a 26+ to have a fair shot...

I doubt you'll get a serious look until your scores come back.

Even if you made it past ,y school's superficial pre-screening, I'd reject you outright for that 6 in Bio. Didn't you learn anything for your classes??

Your score is lethal for any DO school, I suspect even LUCOM.

Fix whatever deficits you have in test taking and retake MCAT, but only when you're ready. Are you ESL? Your MCAT is indicative that you'd fail boards, if not failing out of medical school.

It will be faster to flush your money down the toilet.

Yup Liberty requires a 22 to apply.

I'm not ESL. My MCAT score surprised me as I had been getting 32's on the practice exams. I'm not sure what happened, but I've got to try harder. I was hoping to retake in October or September.

Test taking anxiety? If so, contact your school's counselor or education specialists for help.

So should I just wait till next year to apply for osteopathic medical schools or go ahead and apply now? I don't want them to look over me even though I'm going to retake my MCAT. I know I can do way better than an 18.

I'd suggest waiting.
