Hello! I am applying MD & DO but would greatly appreciate any help with my MD school list!

Stats:

sGPA- 3.62

cGPA- 3.67

2017 MCAT - 503 (yes, very bad. Changed my study habits/attitude/discovered-the-meaning-of-life-etc. for my next attempt)

2018 MCAT - 514 (130/127/126/131) (worried about BB score but that's really the best I could do)

Extra-curriculars:

  • Shadowing 240 hours
  • Created Two successful clubs focused on mental health
  • Suicide Hotline Counselor
  • Research in the Oncology Department
  • 300+ hours Volunteering at Alzheimer's Facility
  • 1,500 + hours working as a Medical Assistant at an ENT- will be working there during my second gap year

Current List (hoping to add ~ 7 more, need help with OOS)

1. University of South Florida

2. FIU

3. NSU (Nova)

4. University of Central Florida

5. University of Miami

6. University of Florida

7. FAU

8. FSU

9. Rosalind Franklin

10. Medical College of Wisconsin

Thinking of: Emory, Georgetown, Drexl, Wake Forest, Syracuse (family ties), and UT Austin (family ties) ...

Also if anyone has any info about how retakes are regarded and how that impacts the application for certain schools, that would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time!!

AAMC recommends that we average scores.
Some schools are well known for following this instruction (Jefferson).
No one can be completely sure how any individual will evaluate multiple scores, but state public schools tend to be more generous (with their own residents).

Each school looks at re-takes differently, from what many on here say they average the two scores. I would recommend you look at the website of each school you are considering and see what they say. If you don't see an answer email the school and ask.

If they average the 2 score you could consider these OOS:
  • Oakland Beaumount
  • Penn State
  • Medical College of Wisconsin
  • Loyola Chicago
  • Rosalind Franklin
  • Creighton
  • VCU
  • Vermont
  • GW
  • Geisinger
  • Drexel
  • Albany
  • Tulane
  • Temple
  • Wake
  • Quinnipiac
  • NYMC
If they don't average the two scores you can consider:
  • Tufts
  • Georgetown
  • Einstein
  • Emory
  • Hofstra
@Goro and @Faha could give you a more accurate list

I agree with my young colleague.

Make sure to have ALL FL schools on the list. Add U WV.
Add some DO schools. You know which ones are on my Bad Boy list.

Thank you all for the help! I have gotten my list down, and will be sure to apply to a few DO schools, namely LECOM and NOVA. Struggling with OOS suggestions for DO. If anyone knows any, that would be helpful.
