If you have a choice...don't go to UHCO. This school is outdated. Yes it has laurels from doctors past, but it beat down right now.

The school started of really well but it has been accepting sub-standard faculty for the last 10 years and the attendings have been poor clinicians. I hate to say this but I just graduated from UHCO and I wish I could get a refund!

Job opps are at a dead end for optometrists right now. My counterparts who graduated from ICO and NOVA have better skills than I do. My attendings were mostly over 70 and had really old technique. The lecture materials were outdated and we had to come up with updated study materials for boards ourseleves.

We were poorly prepared for boards which is why we had such a low passing rate.

Most of my classmates and me do a lot of ourstudying ourselves. The professors are incredibly difficult to approach as you must know from dealing with the admissions comittee. They don't respond to emails and don't return phone calls.

The faculty and attendings are very attentive to the few students we called optometry royalty - sons and daughters of optometrists. You probably shouldn't bother applying because half the seats are taken!
