already a resident wanting to apply to canadian NSG programs

Had a quick question for everyone please. Im a Canadian citizen currently in a PGY 1 program with an advanced PGY2 spot secured for next year in the US. Ive always wanted to do NSG and it wasnt possible this time around so I settled for a 'compromise' and started training in the US. My question is, can I still apply in the CARMS match for a NSG spot in Canada while still being a PGY 1 and my current and the future US residency program not knowing about it ?... any ideas ?
