After you submit your amcas app and the necessary LORs, if you send an LOR at any other point in the application process, does the LOR go straight to AMCAS and can you still pick which schools you want to send it to? If schools say they don't accept updates does that mean they won't get the LOR as well?

Thanks! It doesn't answer the question of whether or not schools that don't accept updates will be accepting this LOR (do LOR count as updates anyway?)

Also, are there instructions/form for professors to fill out for the LOR? I'm asking b/c if you were to ask your professor for a rec in say, February, doesn't this mean that you can't send them the link through AMCAS since it'll still be the 2014-2015 version? Does this mean that you can only send the link in May (or whenever AMCAS re-opens)? Thanks!

From what I understand you can send a certain number of LORs to AMCAS, then its kept on file and you assign it to whichever school. School updates are done generally through the school sites. But if you want to give a new LoR to a school, just add it to AMCAS and assign it to the school. Whether they will download it or not is their choice. You can contact them and let them know you have added one if you don't see any movement after a week.
