Hi there.
Well, technically speaking, most schools require a minimum GPA of only 2.0 in order to consider you for admissions. However, I must say that with the fierce competition these days, it will be pretty hard for you to get much attention with such a low GPA.
Having said that, and now that you have realized that the admissions process is no "cake-walk", you need to rise up to your game.
Make yourself noticed. Get some attention.
For starters, you have a pretty decent Part I score.
How about TOEFL ?
What kind of experience do you have ?
When did you graduate ?
Don't make the popular mistake of looking at your application in a linear fashion. It's not just about numbers.
Go out and get some experience here in the USA. Volunteer work, dental assisting, lab technician and even research. In order to make up for your low GPA you need to prove your professional dedication all over again and show that you are willing to go that extra mile to accomplish your goals.
Also, I still would encourage you to go ahead and apply to whatever schools you were applying to. You really never know. Just don't get your hopes too high yet ...
There is no need to worry. Just be practical and realistic (if possible at all), and do not expect to get too many interviews during this application cycle. IT IS STILL OK. Most people do not get accepted anywhere on their first attempt, even though it may seem that way.
