Anyone apply to Ivy schools just to sound better during another interview?

Talking to my bud from Ohio:

Me: So you go in?
Him: Yeah! I'm going to MCO.
Me: Sweet! Congrats.
Him: I'm so glad I applied to Yale, Cornell, and Dartmouth even though I got rejected
Me: Why?
Him: Because they asked me during my interview where else I was applying and they seems turned on by the fact I was applying to all those schools. I think they wanted to "snatch me away."
Me: :confused:

I don't think there is anything impressive about applying to those schools, so much as if he had gotten accepted to one of those greater prestigous schools. Remember anyone can apply to a school. It doesn't mean anyone can get in.
