I was just wondering this since (like many others) I applied to around 20 schools. I don't have the time to check each website constant, nor am I neurotic enough to do so.
Are they any schools that send app status changes through email?

Well then I guess you'll be rolling the dice. If you can't be bothered to spend all of 15 minutes checking websites every couple of days to see if your status has changed then perhaps it would be better to never learn about them.
In any case, I found that nearly all schools will email you with updates - at least when it comes to interviews vs. rejections.

It does help to occasionally check your status since you could find that you are not complete due to some little oversight. I would recommend checking at least once a week and then every two weeks if it is such a time commitment. You could also let your web browser save your login information, which makes it much easier to do.
