attn: FP attendings

I was wondering if any FP attendings (or anyone that knows for that matter) could comment on how often they follow their admitted pts on the floors and in the units. how do you bill and how do you make this work so that you are still available for clinic. as for myself i would never want to lose my hospital medicine skills and knowledge, but i also want to make it worth my while.

the fp docs that I know who have hospital privileges round before and after clinic and take calls during the day and/or groups designate 1 person as hospitalist on a specific day and they cover all hospitalized pts from the practice on that day with a standard rotation set up.

thay have no outpt load when acting as hospitalist.
