Cell Phones are allowed in the room right (as long as its turned off ofcourse)...I usually use my cell to time myself.

I don't think they'd let you use your phone to time yourself even if the ringer's off, because someone could be text-messaging you answers for all they know.

IIRC phones are allowed in the exam room but MUST have the ringer off and must be in a bag or pocket (not out on the desk) because they're 2-way communication devices.
 
yea, i definitely don't think you should bank on using your cell phone for timing purposes. at my test center in august, they wouoldnt even allow them in view. they had to be "away" and "off."
 
Our test center guy told us to turn it off and put it away and then his phone went off twice.
