Child Psychiatry Consults

So, I've started to become interested in Child/Adolescent consults. I've gotten some info from my attending, but not much. I'm just wondering what others know about this as a career option. Is it needed? Pay? What are job prospects? Stuff like that.

I'm not sure I would actually decide to do this, but I'm just looking into other options.
