could someone tell me what culture media is used in case of chlamydia......
I know that thayer martin is used as differential for N gonnorrheae
wasnt able to find any info on chlamydia

chlamydia is a obligate intracellular parasite so it needs host's ATP as an energy source for there own cellular activity. they steal an ATP from the host cell and spits out an ADP. chlamydia have a ADP/ATP translocator.
So it is impossible to cluture this organism on nonliving artficial media. however can inoculate into the living cells(like in chick embryo yolk sac or cell culture)

hi praveena,

the tests for clamydia are tissue culture and culture on embryonated eggs. Inert media is not conductie for clamydia which is an obligate intracellular parasite.
Other tests for clamydia are flourosecent antibody test/agglutination...
