Columbia's processing - slow!

called up columbia today. was really surprised to know how they process the application fee. they wait for atleast 20 checks to arrive before they send them to the bursar for cashing. theyre all processed in batches. i think its really stupid. it only delays the whole process.
are all universities following the same procedure?

Does it really matter? It's not like cashing the fee is a requirement for them to consider your application.

For example, my check still hasan't been cashed and I've been invited to interview...

Columbia admissions office is essentially a 2 person operation ... but don't worry ... things do get done there eventually.
