I am applying to clinical PhD programs and in their requirements some say CV, some say CV/Resume, some say resume. I was under the impression that they all wanted my CV (which is 4 pages), but do some want the short 1-page resume, or do I have completely the wrong idea? Do they just have 2 different names for the same thing?

I'd go with what they say on the application/website - if they ask for resume, give the shorter resume, if they ask for CV, send the full CV. They are definitely not the same thing - CVs are expected to be much longer and more detailed. And if you're really not sure which one a specific school I'm sure there's someone you can call/email to ask.

I was also told to always send a CV, but if you're concerned I would just ask.
