Has anyone ever been asked a question related to this topic? If so, how was it asked?

I understand that diamagnetic: paired electrons (weakly opposes magnetic fields)
paramagnetic: unpaired electrons (weakly aligned to magnetic fields)
Ferromagnetic: Co, Ni, Fe (generate internal magnetic field)

Can the MCAT ask you like, Is mercury diamagnetic?

yes, Ive had a question on a practice kaplan exam that asked about something like that. You just have to know if the electrons in the outer orbital are completely paired or not. I believe my question asked about Oxygen

+1 . Don't know about the oxygen, but have seen these concepts tested.
