# of apps

Since 2013, US kids are applying to an average of 25.5 programs, up from 18.8, IMGs are applying to 68, up from 54.

So....up around 900 applicants to IM, That's great news for me.

Wow... Only 25.5 programs?!!? I'm really impressed.. I applied to 51...

I'm sure this trend will keep true for most, if not all, positions given more students per medical school, more medical schools, and stagnant residency spots. Things will only get worse.

What happened in General Surgery in 2012??? They went from just under 5000 apps to 7000+ with most of that being a doubling of international applicants...

What happened in General Surgery in 2012??? They went from just under 5000 apps to 7000+ with most of that being a doubling of international applicants...
