Fluoride has antimicrobial activity. In low concentrations fluoride ion inhibits the enzymatic
production of glucosyltransferase. Glucosyltransfemse prevents glucose from
forming extracellular polysaccharides, and this reduces bacterial adhesion and slows ecological
succession.

so i get the impression that glucosyltransferase has a desirable function, then why would fluoride inhibit it ?!?!...this sentence is from decks pedo cards #36 2011-2012 version.....pleaaaaase anyone explain thanks

Glucosyltransferase is made by bacteria. Glucosyltransferase makes glucan polymers from sucrose. These polymers promote adhesion of bacteria to the tooth structure and then the acids produced are in close and constant contact with the tooth. The acid decreases the supersaturation of calcium ions surrounding the tooth and causes decalcification at around 5.0 and 5.5 pH.

Glucosyltransferase is produced by bacteria and not desirable.
