Flouride toxicity question

QUESTION 28.

Fluoride Toxicity:

A children patient that weighs 20 kg comes in. How much Duraphat can you give him before you get to the definite toxic dose?

A. 25-50 grams

B. 25-50 mg

C 2.5 -5gram

D. 11-23 gram

Answer given is 11-23 gram.

My scratch work:

Duraphat - is 22600 ppm which is 22.6 mg.

Definite toxic dose is 32-64mg per kg

32 mg /kg * 20 kg = 640 mg is the max dose

Or

64 mg/kg *20 kg = 1200 mg.

Max dose is

640mg / 22.6 mg per gram of duraphat so that’s about 33?

1200mg/ 22 =55.
