Gene amplification vs Duplication

Can someone please explain to me clearly what is the difference between Gene amplification and duplication and in which processes they occur?

The two terms are often used interchangeably. Gene amplification is over-expression of a gene. This is accomplished naturally through gene duplication or artificially through PCR.
