How competitive is the NHSC Loan Repayment Program

I heard the NHSC scholarship is pretty hard to get. However, I was wondering if the Loan Repayment program was equally competetive? Anyone have any insight on this matter?

The American Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2009 (aka the economic stimulus bill) literally doubles the size of the NHSC. That being said I'm sure it will still be pretty competitive. I do know however that a majority of the stimulus funds will be put toward loan repayment vs. new scholarships. The only problem that I can't find answers to is that if I recall correctly the funds are supposed to be used in the next few years, so how that will affect the future when most people on this site need them I do not know.
