Family Medicine is probably one of the least competitive residency programs offered and I still hear of people saying that Caribbean students from the Big 4 don't even have a good chance of matching at these less competitive residencies. I know two people that went to the Caribbean and both of them got into FM residencies their first year of applying.

Is the main concern for going to Ross or any of the other Big 4 schools that you won't match into a more competitive residency?
Is the Caribbean still a bad choice if you are okay with matching into FM?

Matching is not guaranteed, especially if you come from the Caribbean. But if you want to do FM, coming from the Caribbean, your chances of matching into that particular specialty are considerably better than for others.

Look at the Match lists and judge for yourself.

Also, there is (and will remain) opportunities for those outside the Match to secure spots. Forget this "all in" nonsense. Has no teeth. Do a good job at a rotation, and you may be offered a spot.
