How long before I can ask for a letter of recommendation?

Hello,
I am currently shadowing a doctor, I started today. I will be able to shadow him for another 9 days (6.5 hours each day) so a total of somewhere around 65 hours. But then I have to go back to school. Would it be premature to ask him at the end of the last day?

If you're in dire need of an LOR, I'd say ask him after the third or fourth time you shadow him. In that time, just be open with him, share your story and personality. I don't think it'll take 65 hours for this doc to figure out your personality! Good luck!
