How to ensure you get meaningful EM letters of rec?

I've been told numerous times that EM residencies in particular place significant weight on the letter of rec. What does one do to ensure they get good letters of rec from well-respected EM physicians? I would imagine some physicians are better than others....and aside from doing well on your EM rotation, what can you do to positively influence this important component to your app?

EM residencies want SLOEs.

The best way to get good SLOEs is to bust your a$$ on 4th year EM rotations and do aways at highly regarded programs.

I have heard that EM residencies would rather have 4 SLOEs than any personal letters. I don't know if that is true as it was more hearsay, but it illustrates the weight of SLOEs.

Essentially older programs with faculty who are leaders in the field and who have a huge alumni base.
