I have two questions really. First, the one every asks, what do you think my chances of getting into pod school would be? I have a 3.11 overall GPA and I'm not 100% sure on my exact sci GPA, but it's between 2.9-3.0. I haven't taken the MCAT yet. A little background..I was pre physical therapy, and have been interning at a pt clinic all summer. We have a foot specialist there, and that's how I became interested in pod. I have all the pod school pre-reqs except o chem (which i'll be taking in fall and spring). I'm also re-taking my gen chem sequence because the pt schools wanted me to (I did 3 yrs of nursing school and took a nursing gen chem instead of just "gen chem"), so I'm hoping those will help raise my sci GPA.

My second question, not really a question, but I'd just like to hear people's opinions on the different pod programs. On this forum I've seen a lot of negative things about Barry, so just wondering about what people's thoughts on each or any particular program are.

Thanks!

I will be a first year Pod Med student this August, so i will try and answer both of these as best I can inside my own knowledge. As for the "what are my chances" part of this, I think its hard to completely give you a definite "good" or "bad" just because there is no real insight on your MCAT score. Your Overall GPA and your sGPA are just about the average to a little bit lower then the average accepted student for most if not all the Podiatry schools. So with those both being about average it would be tough to say without your MCAT score. I would say as long as you do well on the MCAT (and only go up with your GPAs following Ochem) , I would personally say aim for a 25+ I would then think you would have a good shot at getting into a school then depending on which one/ how many your applying to.

As for the second part of your question I personally was always a "Pod guy" and for the most part this is what Ive wanted to do for some time, having family that are MD, DO, and DPM, I had experience in shadowing and viewing all fields and found this one to be most interesting and allowing me to do everything I wanted with medicine. I say this because my family that are DPMs are alumni of KSUCPM (was then OCPM). I tell you this because right off the bat KSUCPM was kind of my number 1 choice. I did go into the interview process trying to be as absolutely unbiased as possible as I wanted to make my own decision based on what I wanted and not family tie related. I absolutely loved KSUCPM, the facilities are awesome from the anatomy lab to the practice clinics to the lecture rooms, it truly is beautiful. Also it is close to the city, close enough to be able to get to Cleveland easy for entertainment or whatever your reason might be it has much to offer in my opinion. The staff was extremely friendly and has been very helpful throughout the admissions process all the way from my first application to helping me set up housing and student loans. It also has a great affiliation with Cleveland Clinic as well as other hospitals. After interviewing there and seeing everything for myself it not only looked great, but most importantly FELT like the right choice that fit me from everything to the people, the facilities, the location, and the atmosphere. I should also tell you that I did have two other interview invites set up after KSUCPM and after being accepted chose not to pursue those and cancelled the interviews. Im sure it also helped that family had loved their 4 years of podiatric medical school here as well. So after reading all this I may be a little biased :), haha but thats my two cents anyways. I hope the best for you and in the end that it all works out!

Have you really? I've only seen the same one or two threads that seem to have the same people complaining each time.
