The not-married-but-engaged-living-together-with-child club is a doozy also...especially since out of all my friends I'm the only member. Lol they never understand why I can't stay out till 5am drinking.

Random but I wore a penguin suit for halloween...it was a hit.
 
+1 for the MSGMSMMEMS. My wife and I just married in December, and the poor thing is not only experiencing the States for the first time but also married a pre-Med student who's applying this cycle. So happy that she's very supportive of my decision to apply and attend Medical School, and loves to cook :).

Congrats on the recent marriage! I'm sure she knew what she was getting into by marrying a future medstudent beforehand, haha. I guess I'm one of the few on here who is still part of the singles club. Nothing wrong with that, right?

Thanks! So far, she's deifnitely trying to understand the process, how to explain a DO to someone else, and is a great support. Absolutely nothing wrong with heading into Medical School as a single person on so many levels. :)
 
...that said, having a sugar mama has it's perks, too!
 
It's not night time but I work night shifts so this is my "night time" so to speak. Man, I'm ready for school to start!

So I called the office "Hi, I'm wondering if Dr. XYZ allows shadowing?"
Secretary: "I'm not sure. What's your name & number so he can call you back?"

2 days later, he calls me back to set up a time frame but I missed the call!

I've been calling at his TWO offices on different days at around 1 or 2PM and he's always gone for the day!!! I'm like...what time did he leave? She says, today he left at 10am!!! It just depends on when his last patient is.

This DO dude is living the good life, OMG

I suppose that's the way it goes for most docs... depends on their specialty and how many offices they work in. I shadowed a doc who bounced around 3 different clinics each day... so he may just have left to go to a different clinic, since all his patients were seen at the one you called at. Who knows...

Possibly sees patients at the hospital the rest of the day depending on his specialty.

That's pretty sick, bro. :thumbup: Definitely jealous.

I've never been to Hawaii, but I am going to South Carolina for a week at the end of May. And then I think somewhere for another week in June with my wife's family. Gonna do a lot of reading and drinking beer by the beach this summer. :cool:

Nice! I went to Hawaii about 4 years ago... it's very, very nice!

When you get there, take a look at the "soil" all the trees and plants grow in. Pretty cool.

I lived on Oahu for 8 years...make sure you try local foods, so many tourists stick to what they know but end up missing out on a very tasty aspect of the culture :)
 
Any recommendations on what to check out when I'm there? We'll definitely go for the local cuisine.. it wouldn't be right to experience hawaii with a closed mind

I've heard the AZ memorial is pretty cool. I flew through there back in November, and definitely would love to visit. I have also heard that it is a must to get off the big island and t the smaller islands during your visit, due to culture differences. Have an awesome trip!
 
Personally I'm just ready to graduate undergrad and for football season this fall
 
I just wish we had the time to follow it as much as we use to.
 
I'm hoping I don't follow SDN as much when school starts.

So did anyone play the diablo 3 beta this weekend? It was free to download and play till tomorrow @ 10am. It only went up to a certain point though... it wasn't the full game.

But yeah, it was pretty good. They really need mic support though.
 
Just finished 6/10 pages on the concept of unified command. Started it at two, took a long break to play softball, and going to bed now. Due Tuesday and I have zero idea what I'm writing about

I tried to download the client for my Mac but it wouldn't work... Oh well. It was our first nice spring weekend so I spent most of it outside doing things like taking photos and riding my bike downtown. I wonder if it's going to be as addicting as D2?

Finished working on some extra credit our physics prof gave us ( he never does this, guess our class sucks!) we had to write a poem on why physics is awesome. I did "the night before finals" we'll see...

Here one that I read, most of it is really specific to our prof or our class though...

T'was the class before finals
When all through the night
Physics students were studying, giggling with delight
Bookbags were back with #2 pencils with care
With hopes a passing webassign grade would appear

While other students were nestled, all snoring in bed
Physics kids have equations all jumbled instead
Coffee, kept warm, in a thermos as taught
Preventing radiation( a mirror), conduction (a vacuum), and convection with a top

When outside my home there arose such a sound
I spill my hot coffee (friggine transfer of heat!) and put my calculator down
With sound traveling a swift 342 meters per second
A longitudinal wave, and soon I was beckoned

To my front porch, with physics still fresh in my mind
An inelastic collision, two vehicles intertwined
From the truck hopped a large juggernaut of a man
And from the car, exited professor SCOTT SCHULTZ, physics book in hand

Soon on the sceen, the police did arrive
The man with much mass promptly started to lie
"He was speeding, I was stopped, he swerved in my lane, look at his tires, looke at the road, no you don't need my name!"
"Oh! I'm going to sue and yes I know I will win!"
Said this grizzly man, with a prisoners grin.

Scott simply stood there, with a slightly annoyed face
Preparing himself, preparing his case
"You know, the coefficient of friction of rubber to asphalt
Indicates this gentleman is clearly at fault"
"Plus, the velocity at the bottom, when my tire hit the road, is easily calculated, or so I am told."


"And if he was stopped, as he so vigorously claims
I can dispute this with physics, lets make this a game"
"Momentum, torque, kinetic and potential energy
Plus the time right before this young lady heard the collision to be."

His eyes, how they twinkled, as measurements he took
And googled the mass of the truck and the crook
Next he went to the back of his sad looking car
To pull out a gauge, the cop thought him bizarre.
After calculating pressure from his tires, a number he got
He walked to the curb then took a squat

Scott spoke not a work, but when straight to his work
Calculating velocity, temperature, accelerations and hertz
Coefficents, summations, vectors and gears
Jeff Gordan and Mothra kept ringing in my ears


After a moment Schultz stood to his feet to explain
The impossibilities of this big man's ridiculous claims.
For he's used physics, not just hearsay or a guess
So, in his opinion, his innocence is no contest

As the cop turned around to talk to the man
He decided to flee, like PJ he ran
This was the first meeting of Mr. Schultz's favorite pal
Who's still trying to use physics to escape from the jail

Just then my phone ran and I woke to a host of hurried text
From Roy, Chelsea, and Cassandra wondering where I was at
But in preparation that I again would be late
I slept in my car at Delta to avoid this horrid fate

The moral of the story can arise from three little Laws
Starting with Aristotle and Galileo and Newton because
Physics is everywhere, an useful everyday tool
And in the words of Scott Schultz
"Isn't this So COOL!?!?!"
