LECOM-Bradenton C/O 2016: Fall 2012 Applicants

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'll be arriving at Tampa Airport. Does anyone know how the traffic like in the afternoon in Tampa? I have to drive to Bradenton.

Depends what time in the afternoon. Rush hour (4-630 ish): allow yourself plenty of time to get there, maybe an hour and a half just in case things are seriously backed up. Any other time you could make it easily in an hour. I live in Sarasota so I drive to Tampa fairly frequently :)

Good luck to all of you who interview on the 20th.:luck: Please let us know how it goes!:xf:

once we get to the school will there be like signs telling where interviewees should go?
b/c the email doesn't really say where we're supposed to go other than entering through the security entrance...

If I remember right, there's a security desk right inside the entrance. They have you sign in, and I'm sure they'll direct you from there.

It was so hilarious the first time I went out there--the building is a rectangle, essentially, with an entrance or two on each side. I was traipsing around the entire circumference of the building trying to find the right one, with the students in the building staring at me through the glass in my bewilderment.

The security entrance is in the building, you'll check in with them. Then I'm sure you'll get escorted to where you need to be.

I see all of your applicants for 2016 are from CA. We have a bunch you here, I'm sure you'll all feel right at home. Maybe we should just move the school to CA.

Can I get ANY new yorkers, like city/long island region, to make me feel at home? LOL.

Good luck everyone! :D

It was. He didn't ask me many questions at all, but most of what he did ask was related to my pharmacy experience.

How did yours go? And which group were you in?:)

Who did you all have interviewing you guys?

How was everyones interview?

I swear I had the hardest guy... I am good at interviews. He challenged EVERYTHING I said. I don't want to say his name. He hit me with about 20 questions in 30 minutes. I still think I did well enough, just not happy about the interviewer.

The school is amazing, they go out of the way to make the facilitation for learning a 10/10.

:scared: Wow. I don't know what I'd have done if that happened to me! My interview was much more laid back than that. Kudos for hanging in there. Good luck :luck:

Professors seem okay to me so far. I really like a few of them. You will connect alot better with the material if you've worked in a pharmacy. Especially when it comes to Pharmaceutics. The professor gives lots of examples from the real world.

As for learning, it is what it is, every pharmacy school is giant lecture hall based.

Personally not what I'm used to. I went to a small private undergrad school, small classes, personal involvement with the professors, discussion style learning. I haven't had a scan-tron style test in years until now. I had to understand concepts and be able to really think through. So it's a bit of a change to me now.

Just got an interview for Nov 3 at 12:45! I'll be flying in from MD that morning.

Anyone else interviewing in this group?

Please let us know the news!

I got alternate but I'm not surprised. I just wish I had a different interviewer :(

you guys who got accepted, do you mind sharing your stats? or pm me?

im trying to figure out if it was my gpa or just that i had a bad interview...

thanks and congrats all !

Stats @ acceptance: 4.0 GPA and PCAT 87th percentile. 2 years pharmacy experience.

are you by chance the girl who is finishing her bach. during the first year of pharm school?

No, I only have two years of coursework.

It's the only place I applied to for two reasons--one, with my small amount of coursework I don't have all the prerequisites for basically any other school in FL, and two, my husband's work is in the area. Plus, I just really was impressed with the school :)

And the same to you! :) Are you planning to go there as well, or not sure yet?
not completely sure yet..I am married and if i get into a school closer to home we might choose that one but I really like Lecom..i'll at least be putting a deposit down

Yo, just wanted to let you know that I got accepted... But I don't think that I am going, I'm waiting on UF.

this is cool, I got an interview where others are going. I'll have my car and no flight to deal with. I'm going to stay with a friend in clearwater 11/2, and drive down early in the morning. soooo, sooooo early. I figure leaving clearwater by 630. I'd rather hang around in Bradenton than risk being late. anybody ever meet up before interviews? This is my first one. Does LECOM only offer interviews to people they think they'll accept? Or is everyone invited?

Can't wait for the interview on Nov 3rd. Is everyone ready? Does anyone arrive at Tampa International Airport on Wednesday? I'll be arrived at 5PM.:):)

I hope everyone's interviews went well today. :):) Good luck!

Mailed in my deposit today...
