The following letter was sent to all programs today:

"Date: September 16, 2014

To: ERAS Residency Training Programs

From: B. Renee Overton

Subject: ERAS System Opening Update

Thank you for your patience yesterday while we dealt with our system challenges. I’m pleased to report that late last evening and into the night, our IT team identified the system issue causing the problem and deployed a fix to resolve the issue. We reopened successfully this morning at 9:00 a.m., ET, allowing applicants to apply to your program and enabling you to continue reviewing and evaluating applications.

While September 15th is the beginning of the application cycle and not a deadline, many applicants work to ensure that their applications are transmitted to you on opening day. Yesterday’s system problems prevented this from occurring. In an effort to level the playing field for all applicants, we request that you consider today, September 16th, the official opening day for the ERAS residency application cycle and consider all applications received up to the close of business today as opening day applications.

We appreciate your continued support and look forward to serving you throughout this cycle. Please accept our best wishes for a successful recruitment season."

Hope that provides some relief for those of you still concerned about the issues yesterday
