MCAT seat release timeline

Does anyone have any insight into how often and what time seats are released to sign up for the MCAT?

I am trying to get a seat for the May 22 test date and see tons of new seats pop up for the April 17th & 18th dates, but May 22nd seats rarely ever do. I was wondering if the closer we get to the test date, the more seats will be released by AAMC. I know there will be test takers already signed up who change their mind but these seats will likely be more random and sparse than chunks of new seats to sign up for.

This is a common trend once exam time rolls around, expect to see the same in May.

Well, it's not that AAMC is releasing more seats, it's that people are deciding to switch exam dates, especially as the exam date draws near and those who are unprepared decide to take their exam later. I'm sure the same will happen for May seats in a few weeks.
