I am aware that for DO, retake grade replaces old grade when gpa is calculated. For MD applications though, I cannot find the answer as to how retakes are used in gpa calculation. Can someone offer an answer as well as a definitive source? Thanks!

The AMCAS's Manual has more info but basically each class is counted separately. So if you take biochemistry 12 times you get 12 grades.

Direct quote from the AMCAS Application Manual:
AMCAS counts all attempts of a repeated course, even if your school does not.

they all get included. you could take the same course 5 times and all 5 attempts would be included in your calculated GPA unless it's a W which would not be calculated.

Thank you all!! I figured this was the case. I appreciate the help.
