Can you apply for the NHSC scholarship ANY year you are in dental school, medical school, etc., or is it only for first-year students? Are the chances of winning the scholarship higher for first-year students?

You can apply any year that you are in dental school. Keep in mind, though, that the minimum payback duration is 2 years, so it probably wouldn't be worth applying for just a one year scholarship.

I don't know if the chances are better for first year students. Some people say yes, some say no, some say it doesn't matter at all. I got mine before my 3rd year of med school, for whatever that's worth.
