Hello everyone. My family and I are really struggling financially right which sort of caused me drop this semester and possibly restrict me to being a part time student for spring 2019. This means I will be applying to medical school 22-23 or at age 22 in April and age 23 also April. I would like to know because I am not a traditional student, would I need to do extra ec, volunteering, etc. Does competition increase for me? Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you

Applying to 22-23 isn't really nontraditional; that's equivalent to taking 1-2 gap years. It's actually the average matriculant age at most medical schools, if not lower.

That being said, if you do apply after you graduate college, you are expected to do extracurriculars and volunteering during that time and talk about it. Most schools will ask you to elaborate on your gap year activities and what you made out of them.

EDIT: Just noticed you posted in wrong section
