Hi there!

I'm beginning my premed journey and looking at postbac programs in NYC. I know that NYU's free tuition for their med school is relatively new (like in their 2nd year or so?), but I'd love to increase my chances of getting accepted there or to another as-yet-undiscovered-to-me program that offers a ton of financial assistance (and not in the way of loans). Does anyone in this network have any information about whether going to NYU's premed postbac program increases one's changes of matriculating to/getting linkage to their med school? And/or what other knowledge do folks here have about high scholarship likelihood at other (preferably NYC-based) med schools?

FYI: Undergrad GPA (in History with a couple of math/science classes sprinkled in) is 3.93; SAT score 1330.

Thanks!

Thanks for your response, @Dave1980! I think I need to do a postbac because, although I have a high undergrad GPA, I've only taken Calc I and Chem I, and that was all the way back in 2007-2008. Everything else was humanities and social sciences. I don't even think I have enough science knowledge to succeed on the MCAT (which I haven't taken yet). And I don't meet prereqs for any med school. The rest of my application would be also super bare bones, because I am a truly brand new career changer (I've spent my twenties in community development and arts management) and am just now seeking out experience in the healthcare field. So, my ECs aren't that strong yet, either.
