Hello. I am currently a rising university senior planning on doing a post bacc once I am finished. I have taken most of my prereqs but would like to retake some of them during my post bacc. It would most likely end up being maybe 4 of them. Most of the programs I have looked at do not allow rising seniors to apply. I would need to get my bachelors before I do. What type of timeline is most normal for people in my situation? Should I just wait a semester before applying (pressure from parents would be insane), or could I apply to the same schools as a non-degree seeking transfer? Could I apply during the summer? I am really not entirely sure which way to go or who to reach out to for assistance. Thank you for any info that you can share.

What are your goals for the postbac? To raise your GPA? To retake C- grades in the prereqs? How bad is your GPA and how many credits do you want to do? Depending on your answer you have some options. Yes, the traditional postbacs will probably need a gap year. Alternatively you could do a DIY postbac if your school (or a nearby state university) offers registration to the public, usually via open university. You can take classes a la carte within a credit limit per semester. This route will be faster and cheaper, but without the infrastructure of support that comes with dedicated programs like Goucher. The "normal" timeline is the one that allows you to achieve the best grades.

Right now, focus on your senior year classes. It doesn't really matter which postbac you do--all that matters is the grade. So if you're going straight into it from undergrad, you should perfect your study habits now.
