Thank you Rise up!! for visiting the thread.
The source for this thread is internal and straight from American Dental Association Organisation. They do survey every year with Proffesors, Researchers, ASDA students and lot of other faculty members. Based on survey they decide how much grant has to be given to each school. Also their accreditation is somewhat depended on it. ADA figure out which school students have performed excellence in national Dental Boards.... Keeping everything in consideration .... They Rank each Dental School, but they do not disclose it to Public.

Guys, this is a nice and informative tool, but you need to focus on something else. With so many applicants and not so many programs, changed requirements and pass/fail exam, in the end the best program is the that will accept YOU!

Concentrate on this and good luck!

How did you get this list then? Even though I liked seen UIC up there I don't think this raking is accurate, and I couldn't find your source on ADA website...

Read this: ADA Website Link
"Where can I find a list that ranks dental schools?

The ADA does not rank dental schools. The Survey of Dental Education series has reports that cover applications, enrollment, program information, tuition, faculty, curriculum, and finances, which individuals may use to make their own comparisons between schools.

Related items: 2009-10 Survey of Dental Education series. (Item code for complete set: SDES-2009.) Available as a free download.

Hope 4 ...Thanks for visiting the thread. As I have already mentioned that this report or survey is only for ADA management Personnel. It is highly confidential and you will not find this on ADA website. Doubting on its authenticity doesn't make any difference to me.

Please Note - I am an Individual who was trying for Dental Program and now I am in Pharmacy school. I have few contacts in ADA which i cannot disclose. I am not going to get benefit or loss from this thread. Those who are getting help from this program, i am happy:) for them and those who are not can skip the thread.
thanks.

Your forum profile stated that you are a dentist.. yet in this post, you said you were trying for Dental Program and now in Pharm school? So ..um.. ok ;)

there is no ranking for dental schools in the united states each school has its pro's and cons for joining which should be concidered as an individual case and then schools chosen.....

at the end we all answer a common dental lisencing exam which if we pass means we meet the standards of that state as a dentist..... plus all international dentists are already dentists just we need to learn treatment here to get the liscence .......

oh and alexa....if this is confidential ADA stuff then think 100 times before posting it with your name in an open forumn.....if the ADA decides for whatever reason you have violated some of their rules than even having contacts with the president will not help you continue your dream

Yes, I am an International dentist (I don't need to specify from which country). I tried for 3 years to get into international dentist program and then quit due to some personal reasons and changed my major to Pharmacy. :)

I do not agree with your first statement, if that was the case then each school has same tuition and requirements.... {COMMON SENSE}. But that is not the case. So there are rankings of Dental Schools.

Yes, I do agree with your second statement - at the end each doctor has to prove themselves by qualifying COMMON exams.

CONCLUSION - DIFFERENT PEOPLE DIFFERENT OPINIONS ... THATS THE BEAUTY OF FORUMS.

Your disbelief doesn't make any difference to me. :)

I don't need any contacts of any president to help young dentists to choose best schools. I am not scared at all because I ain't lying. I live in an independent country where there is freedom of speech.

There may be a reason why ADA doesn't disclose it to public and what i believe is - it may affect individual schools .

And oh yea!!! thanks for worrying about me... but I am living my dreams :)

First of all you're in Pharmacy School yet you used the word "ain't"? You do know that's not a word right?

Secondly, for the rest of the people on here. Ranking of schools may be done but it is never confidential, so whatever the original post is take it the way you want to, but does it really matter? Some of the schools on that list don't even have international programs, so the rank doesn't really pertain to international students. This original post is really a waste, so if it really affects someone then call up the ADA and they will give you the information, since you really think they would think ranking of schools is highly confidential?

I don't like calling people out on their "lies", but you can't be an international dentist and then just change your major to pharmacy. You have to have a bachelors from here then take the entrance exam then get into Pharmacy school. I honestly don't know what you're trying to prove, but you wrote your original post to help people so just stick to the post and not trying to defend yourself. And yes it's pretty obvious you aren't what you say you are.

I feel each dentist should do proper research into the schools which they want to get into and then make their own list .... if there is nothing official like a ranking by ADA then i do not think it should be concidered

Things to think about while choosing schools

1) which state you want to practice in , normally single people have the tendency to stay in the same state as the school they graduate from , unless they have family elsewhere

2) if you want to specialize look into the staff at that school are they good teachers of the subject you want to specialize in...

these are just examples , im sure everyone can come up with more

Alexa i am not calling you a liar but SDN is very tricky and each person should be aware that there are a lot of people who are not genuine and put posts up just to give wrong information and depress people who are trying to get into school...

Hey Spherulite,

I am sorry to be singling you out but its really pathetic of you to judge AAlexa. You should not even dare to tell him/her what her 'real' dream is. What the hell is that style, anyway?? There is nothing 'small' in being a pharmacist and nothing 'great' about being a dentist. These are 2 different professions. Maybe Aalexa loves pharmacy. Also, you should do some research on what pharmacology is and then post crap like this. I am sure the Director of Research at every good pharma company is a pharmacist and makes more money than almost every dentist. Poor, poor and poor is what I have to say :(

im sorry motriani if it came out that way...i ran a lab and did compounding medication for yrs in america... so pls do not talk to me about pharmacy i lived that life and vowed i would never be involved in that institution in america

i changed the post for you........

Being harsh was not my intention. I only wanted to express my diasgreement on the 'dream' comment. You being experienced in pharmacy does not change anything. Again, you are NOT aalexa. If you don't like pharmacy, the profession will not cease to exist and will be the passion of a lot of ambitious people. That is all. Have a blessed day

YOUR FIRST SENTENCE.... SORRY TO DIFFER BUT YOU ARE WRONG AGAIN. JUST LIKE CALLING MY THREAD WRONG......

Anyways, you better learn English (American English) if you are planing to stay in USA. FOR YOUR KNOWLEDGE - "AIN'T" means "am not". You can open up the Dictionary.com and check it out. ONE MORE THING YOU CAN PRESUME WHATEVER YOU WANT BUT NONE OF MY POST IS A WASTE.

OH MY GOSH!!! you must be new to USA or unaware of the system here. I did my Baccularate in Basic science courses to get the credits and then passed my PCAT .

YES, I am still here to help and I AM WHAT I AM.
one request don't judge me DUMMY - because you are digging your own grave

Okay, so did you read what it says on dictionary.com? It says it's ungrammatical. So did you really just justify ain't is a word? No wonder you didn't get into dental school. Oh and for anyone else reading this please don't use the word ain't in spoken language or else you will sound really dumb.

So, this proves you don't have a Bachelor's from here. Isn't that what I said? All you have are pre-req courses with no real degree. And digging my own grave? Seriously what is the point of this thread?

Hey everybody..
this is one of those situations wehre you are better off having SOMETHING instead of NOTHING..

these rankings seems somewhat accurate...
just like college, the schools with the High SAT and High GPA scores are the best ..

same thing in dental.. the highest SAT and GPA goes to Harvard.. no surprise...

I have not been to SDN in a while, but this post caught my eye and decided to comment:

Ranking of schools is and has been done for years, what it means to students may not be as relevent, I think it is just bragging rights etc. It is what you get out of the school and how you thrive that determines your experience. I had a great experience; educational and social experience at UIC. I would recommend UIC to anyone and cant say enough good things about it.

:)But I am happy to See UIC move up to #7 spot, surpassing U of M Dental school.

Good Luck To All

P.S. Real World Dental Practice & Job Market is Tough - Get Ready With Clinical skills, bu also brush up your management and social skills - Survival of the fittest.

Question: I hear that Western University (Pomona) recently hired a dentist that went bankrupt practicing dentistry. Do you think that's relevant? Or maybe the guy is a great dentist but a bad business guy? I looked over their faculty and most seem to be practicing on the side while they teach. But a few don't. Do you think that's a negative, that some of the faculty doesn't practice anymore? And what about the bankrupt professor??
