Hi,
So, I am a URM (AA) woman reapplicant and I’m from Pennsylvania applying to DO and MD (hopefully)
MCAT scores are 495,494,497,499
GPA is 3.4 SGPA is 3.2
- Medicinal chemistry and neuroscience major, psychology minor
-Planning on apply this cycle 2022
-Worked as a medical scribe during peak times of COVID in NYC ~900 hours
-Doing media research now for a large women’s media company helping small women owned businesses
- 3000+ hours of research
- A lot of leadership positions
- Currently working as a TA now too ~50 hours
-McNair and LSAMP scholar
- 100+ hours of volunteer work (clinical + nonclinical)
I’m just wondering what my chances are as a reapplicant I really dont want to take the MCATs again but i dont know what else to do right now. Should I still try?

There is no reason you can’t dramatically improve that mcat score

if you are applying next year I recommend you make that your priority

It seems like you have some serious issues with content based on the score so you’ll want to probably prep from scratch with completely different resources than whatever you’ve used. I wouldn’t even put a timeline on the prep if I were you - slowly prep over the next year and plan to take it by April of next year or sooner if your practice scores are near your target score

others will request a school list to understand if that was the main reason you didn’t get an acceptance

this is a marathon not a sprint.. good luck

Hi, thank you for the advice! The problem is that I was getting 511/510 on my AAMC practice tests before I took my most recent test.

You should not give up. You could receive interviews at some DO schools and possible some MD schools with a MCAT of 499. However, it is important to apply this month and submit all your secondaries by August. I suggest these DO schools:
PCOM (all 3 schools)
LECOM (all schools)
MU-COM
UP-KYCOM
WVSOM
VCOM (all 4 schools)
UIWSOM
WCU-COM
ACOM
NYIT-AR
ARCOM
LMU-DCOM
BCOM
Noorda-COM
The median MCAT for AA applicants admitted to DO schools is 498.
For MD schools you could try these:
Howard
Meharry
Morehouse
UCLA Drew
Drexel
Temple
Penn State
Commonwealth Geisinger
Indiana
Vermont
Quinnipiac
New York Medical College
Seton Hall
George Washington
TCU-UNT
Creighton
Loyola
Oakland Beaumont
Medical College Wisconsin
Wayne State
Wright State
