Hey I'm a 3rd year medical student in Bangladesh and I'm highly interested in doing my medical residency in Sweden or Denmark after completing my internship here. I need to know about the licence exams of these countries, all necessary procedures to get into a residency program and also about the tuition fees. Is it possible to get any scholarship?

What are the chances of landing a residency in Sweden for a EU-graduate , non-EU citizen?

There's a shortage in specialists but as far as I understand the spots for residency are kinda tight over there, aren't they?
Not strictly talking about Stockholm but about Gothenburg, Malmo aswell. The bigger cities that is.

Depends on the specialty. Generally not that hard though, with a few exceptions. You may have to temp before getting the residency, but that will be counted towards time served once you get the real thing.

I'm aiming for plastics/ENT. I don't mind being a temp, I'm just concerned there are too many applicants with Sweden being a relatively smaller country with considerably fewer job openings, as compared to UK/Germany for example. Of course, one should also follow his heart/gut feeling when it comes to relocating, but realistically/analytically speaking I'm just afraid that aside from learning the language, it might take years of waiting/pushing through until you set a game-changing foot step in the medical field over there, especially in "high-demand" specialities and in the bigger i.e non-rural cities.

Can you elaborate on that? is there any kind of statistics regarding non-Swedish IMGs in Sweden? statistics about different specialities, acceptance rates, average waiting time?

Thanks a lot :)

Plastics is an exception, don't expect to get that. There's like 1-2 residency spots a year for the whole country and you basically have to have finished a surgery residency first (unofficially).
ENT is fine, can easily get that rurally, and with some ambition in the big cities as well. No official statistics, knowing this from immersion ;)

Waiting time for residency isn't a big deal as temp time counts towards it. Theoretically you could temp a whole residency (although noone needs to do that).

What is a temp? What are the chances of getting into dermatology residency in nonrural areas for non-EU IMG ? What are the required steps, exams ,and paperwork?

Temp references ”vikarierande underläkare”, working as a (junior) doctor for a limited time.
Chances in urban areas isn’t great but at least theoretically possible. Going an hour or two outside the big three cities improves your chances significantly.
For steps etc, see my link above. Nothing special about derm.
