I'm retaking the MCAT on 8/22. My current situation is as follows:
sGPA 3.29
cGPA 3.376
2014 MCAT 26
Have been volunteering at a local medical center as a records staff for 6 months now: 200+ hours
All premed requirement courses taken
Psychology BS major
Have a connection with 2 internal MD at the medical center at which I volunteer
Been working at a dental office as an insurance specialist (probably won't count for anything but...)
I'm currently applying for some post bac programs in my area to hopefully enhance my resume and grades. One of my recommending professors told me that post bac would be a good choice for me to show my dedication and commitment to medicine.
Here are my questions:
1) Would I have any chance in getting to a DO school if I apply this year?
2) If I don't have a good chance of getting in, would it be worth it to hurry to take the new MCAT in August?
3) If I, hopefully, get into a post bac program for this year, when would be the best time to apply for med school? The post bac program I'm looking at is the ACMS in temple or MS in biomedical sciences in PCOM.
4) If I don't get into these programs this year, would taking course at a local college be good too?
5) Should I try too look for more volunteering services?
