State bankruptcy affect match list?

Some states like CA are on the edge of bankruptcy, so I'm wondering if that would have an effect on Medicare reimbursement rate, thus limiting income potential and should be something we consider when applying for residency? What do you guys think?

I think you mean Medicaid when you talk about state financial issues.

I wouldn't worry about that too much when looking at a residency. It is unlikely that state financial woes will affect your working conditions as a resident. It is likely that by the time you finish a residency the curent recession will be over. If it isn't it probably wont matter much what state you're in anyway.

It is possible that some hospitals will be financially affected but I doubt that this would impact residency slots but you never know. See below.
