I am just curious, how has your pharmacy handled tramadol refills from before it went controlled? CVS system inactivated all refills and I am told so did Walmart. Walgreens across the street says they are still honoring them. How about others?

When it changed in NY a while back, we treated it as if that particular rx was always a control. So check the written date, # of refills authorized, etc. Some will be valid, and some will not be. The rx written in September '13 with 11 refills is going to be a no, the one from July 14 is probably still alright.

Walmart re dropped the prescription. So we printed the hard copy then rescanned it. Made sure it wasn't greater than 6 months old or had been filled 6 times. If neither of those applied we could fill the RX
