The goal of PrIMES is to increase ethnic and racial diversity in the medical fields through a targeted, data-oriented approach to formal, near-peer mentoring. Our free program identifies underrepresented minority students and pairs them with current medical students or resident physicians who mentor them through the challenging process of becoming a medical doctor as a minority. Using the PrIMES system, the pairs progress through a year-long curriculum that is individualized to each Mentee's unique barriers and challenges. The programs overall goal is to prepare Mentees for successful application, acceptance, and matriculation into medical school.
