I am currently a junior at a small liberal arts college. I am a biology major with minors in psychology and philosophy. Although my GPA is low, I do have an upward trajectory. Last semester I got a 3.8, including upper division bio classes and organic chemistry. I am concerned about my chances given my lower, less competitive GPA. To try to make up for my lacking GPA I have become involved in a variety of ECS:

-ER Scribe (700+ hours patient exposure)
-30+ hours shadowing an MD, plan on many more hours this coming summer
-Secretary for the pre-health professionals club
-Big Sister through Big Brothers Big Sisters
-Volunteer at local hospice
-60+ hours research experience
-TA for intro biology courses
-Ambassador for college
-2 week medical mission to Nicaragua
-Arranging chapter for future medical mission opportunities to classmates

I am arranged to take the MCAT in August and am hoping to score in the 28-30 range. What are my chances at MD/DO and what should I do to help strengthen my application? Any advice is appreciated!

When are you planning on applying? If you wait for your senior year grades with a continued upward trajectory, combined with a good MCAT score, you should be in great shape for DO, and most likely fine for MD - depending on MCAT and LORs.
