Hello!
I am planning on applying to med school this cycle but I'm having a bit of a hard time building a school list. I'm not entirely sure how to determine if a school is a reach school, target school, or safety school. I would love any advice thank you.
Stats:
1. Gpa: 3.82 cumulative with an upward trend, 3.74 science
2. MCAT: 519- 130/129/130/130
3. State of residency- Pennsylvania
4. Undergrad institution- University of Pittsburgh. I completed my bachelor's in 3 years and will be taking a gap year while I apply, is this a red flag?
5. Ethnicity- Asian
6. Clinical experiences- hospital volunteer- 200 hours, job shadowing 50 hours
7. Nonclinical expereinces- Tutoring refugees with BCAP- 120 hours, girl up- sewing menstrual pads for places with period poverty 30 hours, volunteer work at Cumberland trail, TN 40 hours, tutoring at a local high school 20 hours
8. Research- 580 hours, 1 publication. I will be doing a post-bacc IRTA at NIH during my gap year
9. Leadership: officer of cords for a cause club, Pitt honor mentor- 2 years
10. UTA: physics UTA 1 year
11. Hobbies: creative writing, drawing, baking
