Can someone explain this? Do you have to pass it and what study material do you use?

Other questions...

In the 4 year OMFS residency, are there didactics/exams or is it mostly 100% hospital learning (thru rotations, etc.)?

Do you need to be board certified to practice? What is board eligible?

Omsite is an exam for oms residents. We take annually to see how much we know about the field. There is no passing score but you wanna do well unless you like getting pimped everyday by the attendings. You also need to score certain number before your program director allows you to take the written portion of the board. Every program has some sort of didactics and not 100% hospital learning. You do not need to be board certified to work in a private practice as an oral surgeon. Board eligible oral surgeons are people who finished oms residencies but have not passed the board or decided not to take it. However many hospitals require you to be board certified for privilages.
