Why? For the simple fact that I am curious to see where the majority of people will fall. This seems to be a good sample size, and I wonder if the breakup will be closer to half or slightly skewed to one side (I think it will due to what seems like a distinctly large female presence on the boards).

Would you consider yourselves more Liberal or Conservative?

As we continue to age, we may get into positions where we have to make important decisions and this I feel will guide our choices as much as any other factor out there.
I had a pharmacist already explain to me how he landed his first job out of pharmacy school back in the '70s and it was based on if he "knew how to vote" as the interviewer referred to it.

I realize that many people are liberals for certain issues and conservative on some issues (I myself am one of these people) but for the sake of the "experiment", classify yourself under one of these "all inclusive" umbrellas. I also realize that there exist more than two parties but for the sake of simplicity i only include two. I recognize that the same way I realize there are more than two "coasts" in the United States...this situation is reduced to 2 choices for simplicity and I hope I am not alienating people by leaving the other ones out like some ppl on the boards do by not explaining their rationale in advance...

Liberal - I scored a 14.

23 for me. I guess I'm not as conservative as I thought I was.

11. "Between the Clintons" - it sounds like the title of a bad TV movie.

very conservative

who is john galt?

Liberal is not a dirty word, but I prefer "progressive". :)

Troy

I scored exactly middle of the road; 20. I guess that makes sense since I know that I am liberal on some issues and more conservative on others. However, I feel that I tend to lean more toward the liberal side.

It's a 21 for me! I would say that is an accurate score. I don't fit in with the left-wing bomb throwing Michael Moore-ons nor the religious right-wing fundamentalists. Both scare the hell out of me!

Personally, I would like to see Condi Rice whip Hillary in the 2008 election!

Scored a 10. Liberal. What do you expect from a girl with 2 peacenik hippy parents?

I second that!

100 % Conservative

I know. I was repeating it to kind of demonstrate where I lie politically. I am against big government. In fact I find all governments mildly repulsive because thye always try and increase control over everything

conservative

I got 12...considered conservative in San Francisco

I said I was liberal before taking the quiz. I'm surprised that I scored as highly as I did. I got a 10.

6

thats what i get for growing up in san francisco and going to uc berkeley.

I'm liberal...trapped in a conservative family in a conservative state in a conservative country and oh yeah...my pharmacy classmates are some of the biggest conservatives I've ever met. Really don't feel like I fit in anywhere. +pity+ +pity+

I scored a 21-
I consider myself a social liberal and fiscal conservative (sort of libertarianish)

Well I am suprised by the results so far.....

The sample thus far consists of 28 people (thanks to all who participated).
I had imagined that the amount of conservatives would outweigh the other groups, but they are actually the minority (there's hope for this country yet......oh and to all of those that want Condi to whoop HClinton, don't you want a Pres. capable of intelligent thought? I view her as a female Bush that takes order and has no real sense of the issues at hand...but that's just me  ).

(IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER)

Conservatives (24-40)
=================
5 people

Liberals (0-17)
===========
17 people

Middle Grounders (18-23)
===================
6 people

I will let you interpret the results. I think that of the 28 people that have taken part to date, we have had men and women of multiple backgrounds and ethnicities, which is great.
A rhetorical point to think about for all of us liberals, it said that Pharmaceutical companies (and big business....who is John Galt??) run the country. Is that a good thing for the position(s) we aspire to?

I scored a 34. I thought that was a bit low.

By your standards maybe. Relative to the other ppl on the board, however, you have the highest score it seems.

I didn't even take the quiz. Once on campus they had some students outside with a "where do you fall quiz". I told them I was going to end up conservative and I did.

oh and hitlery clinton would like nothing more than to socialize medicine and cut our future salaries in two. I believe the phrase rhymes with clucking bell

godspeed to rice if she does run. She is a smart strong and sassy woman

sorry ladies...
this country is not ready for a female president
and for that matter
neither is the rest of the world

Dont be sorry. Im a woman and dont think a woman could win as president here. I think our first "minority" president (and I use quotes because women are considered a minority group) will be a hispanic male. Or maybe Arnold ;)

I'm a NeoCon.

Most of you will get more conservative as you get older... some of you won't.

hrmph. Normally I would agree but I like rice so much; I think she is not silly like most of us women.

Wouldn't you rather have rice than kerry?

I'm 48 and still liberal. When I'm out of school, we'll be making over 200K combined income. I'd still rather pay higher taxes and help the poor.

Don't confuse Hitler with socialism. The religious right's political agenda is much closer to that of Nazi Germany. I find them very scary.

When I think of Nazi Germany, I think of nationalism. Rally the poor people by creating pride in your country, blame another race for the problems, and promote one specific religion. Then go to war under false pretenses but use propaganda to fool the uneducated. 50% of our population reads at or below the 8th grade level. They are easily fooled and manipulated.

I see this now in America with a working-class person sporting stickers that say "Proud to Be American", "I Support Our Troops" and "Jesus Saves" all on the same vehicle. The parallels are uncanny. As a Jew, I get a little nervous.

If I was a jew I would be more frightened by the muslim terrorists. They seem to get quite a thrill from strapping on bombs and parading around the streets of israel.

Americans have always been proud to be americans. I don't think the government encourages people to love their country in such a manner; they do naturally.

People in america are free and seldom do things they don't want to do.

Also, it is not just the working people who support the troops. I know I support the troops and say god bless america and I am far removed from being an easily duped member of the working class.

also, true conservatives are all about SMALL government. Not big government like hitler. We don't want the state to control what everyone is doing with their money, time, thoughts etc.

The liberals are all about control.

I agree with Dana. True, we are free, but the current leaders are trying to take away some of that freedom for at least some individuals. What comes to mind off the top of my head is the attempt to creat an amendment to the constitution banning gay marriage. You may or may not agree with gay marriage, but once the government attempts to place limits on one group of people. Who is next?

I also feel that with the current situation it has become extremely unpatriotic to voice one's opinions when they differ from the current administration. Take away that freedom and you're taking away a major cornerstone on which this country was founded.

And the LIBERALS are about control? I would have agreed with you in the past. Historically, Republicans were for a decentralized government and the Democrats favored more hands on. Perhaps true conservatives still feel that way, but that is not the governement you voted into office. Now it sure seems to me that the current administration want their hand in everything. Where Democrats move for social reform policies, I feel that the extreme right are looking to transform us into their way of thinking.

I got an 11.. pretty liberal. I wonder if today's culture has affected us so that younger people are generally liberal, with "certain" cultural values. I mean, obviously it has.. an idea to ponder.
