Regarding the “accepted students are not enthusiastic” thing, I feel like the Facebook group is relatively quiet compared to my other accepted groups, but I think a lot of people are using the GoogleSheet in Accepted Central to look for roommates, and everyone I have individually reached out to is super super excited!!! The GroupMe is also pretty good when it gets going. I think we may just be shy about posting in the Facebook group haha (Disclaimer I am 99.9% heading to Case and am extremely excited about it!!! I volunteer to be class cheerleader if not enough people get hyped!!)

Case had one of the most impressive match lists I’ve seen last year. I’m not sure whether it’s because they include CCLCM in there also, but damn, it sure was impressive.

I don't think Case Western is worth 110k over Ohio State. I would go to OSU. Case's FB group is probably not as lively because people are on waitlists for more preferable schools, so don't worry too much.

oof thats a tough choice but I think I would go with OSU. Im actually doing my senior thesis paper on the healthcare system at Wexner which is where I believe the OSU medical students rotate. To say the least, I was pretty impressed. Their research program is pretty robust. I dont know if the extra 27K a year is worth Case even though its amazing on its own right. At the end of the day, I think you will get a good education at both places so you just have to decide if its worth paying that extra 110K. Go with what makes sense and what makes you happy. Good luck!

I love both institutions, so no slights meant here, and you’ll be a fine doc coming from either place, but Case has the edge in prestige, research, and clinical training sites. And while some have said Case is “maybe a bit better but not enough to affect how you match,” that is just not true - Case has a better track record of placing more people in top specialties at more prestigious places.

If you were paying I think this becomes a very difficult decision - you can still match well from OSU and Case is stupidly expensive, so at some point you pick OSU and just accept you may need to work a bit harder but it’s worth saving that money. But if you have the resources to pay then Case is the choice that sets you up best professionally.

From a personal life standpoint, I think it’s nearly impossible to gauge before being at the school, but friends I’ve had at each both equally enjoyed themselves - wouldn’t let Facebook activity drive too much of the decision.
